Research Description/Bio:
Jayda Farmer is a doctoral student in the Clinical/Counseling Psychology program at New York University. Jayda’s research centers around community-based buffers to traumatic experiences and culturally specific mental health interventions to improve the well-being and livelihood of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ populations. Before joining NYU, Jayda served as a Lead Research Assistant in the Trauma Recovery & Resilience Innovations (TRI) program at University of Washington Medicine. She assisted with a nationwide, longitudinal mixed-methods study on how laws and policies affect the mental well-being of LGBTQ+ women and femmes. She also worked on a clinical research study evaluating a digital mental health app designed to support PTSD recovery and substance use after sexual assault. Jayda received a dual degree in Psychology (B.S.) and Sociology (B.A.) from Howard University, and is passionate about conducting strength-based research grounded in Black-feminist and intersectionality frameworks.
