I am a critical learning scientist seeking to use design-based research in dynamic plurilingual classrooms -- research that reenvisions English Language Learners as Multilingual Multicultural Makers (M3) through linguistically-responsive teaching, culturally-responsive teaching, and maker-centered learning. In addition to my aforementioned research mission, my academic interests include Arts-Centered Integrated Learning, Critical Literacy, Ecolinguistics, Immanence, Pedagogical Language Knowledge, and Teacher Identity. Prior to my doctorate studies, I worked as an English Language Arts teacher in Oakland, CA, and as an international educator in a variety of projects in Kazakhstan, Myanmar, China, Taiwan, and Senegal. During that time, my forte was in designing creative learning environments with an emphasis on English language acquisition, critical thinking, and cross-cultural empathetic communication.
