Marc Verzatt began his professional career when he joined the Metropolitan Opera’s ballet ensemble. After several seasons as soloist with the company, he went into stage management, and worked for several seasons with the Pittsburgh Ballet, Pittsburgh Opera, and Cincinnati Opera before becoming stage manager and eventually assistant stage director at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. In Germany, he was stage manager and assistant stage director with the theater in Aachen, later moving on to company manager of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s German production of “Starlight Express.” Returning to the USA, he became assistant stage director and acting coach to the Chicago Lyric Opera’s young artist program. Offers to direct nationally brought him to Houston Grand Opera, Florida Grand Opera, and to numerous opera companies throughout the country. The Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and Brazil’s Festival de Music Erudita took him to South America. Recent opera productions have included a program for the National Gallery in Washington DC and 2 plays for the Playzoomers Ensemble. His acting career has blossomed recently with a growing number of film and stage roles. He was awarded Stage Director of the Year by Classical Singer Magazine. As a competitive ballroom dancer for the Fred Astaire franchise, he has won a total of 15 first prizes in rhythm and smooth style dance.
