Lorene, board-certified in pediatrics by the American Occupational Therapy Association, holds a certification in Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT). Additionally, Dr. Janowski is SOS-trained and has authored a children’s book titled “Fin, the Fish who Learns to Swim,” which explores various learning methods for children. Her genuine passion lies in working with children and their families to enhance their overall quality of life and independence, particularly for children with developmental delays, orthopedic conditions, cerebral palsy, and sensory integration dysfunction, regardless of their age, from the NICU onwards. Dr. Janowski incorporates her expertise in aquatic therapy as an adjunct to land-based therapy services.
She is an adjunct professor at NYU’s Occupational Therapy department, where she teaches master-level students the fundamentals of pediatric practice. Additionally, she works full-time at NYU in the RUSK Pediatric Rehabilitation Department. Her previous work experience includes serving as a Clinical Supervisor in The Hospital for Special Surgery’s (HSS) pediatric rehabilitation department. She has also collaborated with the Department of Neurology, focusing on adult neuro-rehabilitation, particularly patients with ALS. Furthermore, she has partnered with one of the lead hand physicians for surgical intervention for children with hemiparesis, cerebral palsy, and adult acute care.
Lorene, an internationally recognized occupational therapist, has collaborated with the Children of China Pediatric Foundation to educate therapists in a Chinese orphanage. Her educational efforts have been conducted both in-person and remotely. She holds a clinical doctorate in Occupational Therapy from New York University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton.
