Kyung Hae Hwang, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, M.S. in Speech-language pathology, and M.A. in Applied linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University. Kyung Hae is licensed in both New York and New Jersey and holds certifications from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) as well as certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) with a Bilingual Extension in Korean.

During her clinical career, Kyung Hae has gained valuable experience working in various settings, including early intervention, the New York City Department of Education, medical settings, and private clinics. She is the founder of the iTalk Speech & Language Center, a specialized clinic with a focus on bilingual and neurodiverse populations. There, she collaborates with a team of speech-language pathologists, delivering culturally responsive and inclusive assessments and interventions to individuals of all ages with speech and language disorders. Kyung Hae also serves as a mentor to clinical fellows and graduate students and actively participates in community education through the iTalk Forum.

Beyond her clinical work, Kyung Hae's research is centered on neurogenic speech disorders. She explores treatment methods and the utilization of telepractice to enhance the accessibility of research and clinical services. Her commitment is to bridge the gap between clinical practice and research in our field. Additionally, she is deeply passionate about facilitating better communication for individuals with diverse speech and language patterns, including those who are neurodiverse or multilingual. She was honored with a meritorious poster award at the 2023 ASHA convention.
