Kam's journey in education is deeply personal. As a lifelong New York City native, daughter of immigrants, and first-generation college student, she brings a profound understanding to her work in educational leadership and reform. She served as the founder and leader of Bronx Legacy High School (BXL), where she pioneered an innovative educational approach centered on equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. Under her leadership, BXL integrated trauma-informed practices and healing-centered engagement into its core operations, creating a school culture that prioritized both academic excellence and student wellbeing. Her implementation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Oppressive practices throughout the school's framework demonstrated her commitment to systemic change in education.
Kam's approach to education is uniquely holistic, combining traditional educational methodologies with indigenous wellness practices. As a certified Yoga Alliance teacher, she brings expertise in mind-body connection to her understanding of learning and development. Her work explores the science of emotions and their role in education, reflecting her commitment to nurturing both the academic and emotional growth of students and educators alike.
