Jackielyn Ruiz

Teaching and Learning

Jackie (she/they) is a doctoral candidate in Teaching and Learning specializing in Special Education. Her interests include postsecondary transition of youth with disabilities, migration, dis/ability studies, and qualitative research. She is currently working on a research project on Filipino immigration in New York City and Filipino parents' participation in their children's special education. This project is supported by the NYU Migration Network.

Jackie obtained her bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy at the University of the Philippines and her MEd in Inclusive Education Research, Policy, and Practice at the University of Glasgow.

During her free time, she enjoys running, climbing, watching films & comedy, and walking aimlessly around the city.
