An Ecuadorian immigrant raised in the Bronx, NY, George N. Ramírez is developing a media theory of Latinx cultural production through an analysis of popular culture forms. Focusing on the role of sensation, performance, and materiality in rock music, comic books, and online comedy, George develops the notion that Latinx people transform digital technologies by creating encounters that are felt in common. Prior to his time at NYU, George received a B.S. in Physics and History from Yale University, a M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and a M.A. in American Studies from the George Washington University. You can find him dancing bachata, hiking upstate, or listening to funk when he's not contemplating futurity.
