PAA Students and Graduates Connect with NYC Arts Community

Posted

The NYU Performing Arts Administration (PAA) graduate program kicked off this year’s PAA Curtain Up Series on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Kimball Hall on the Washington Square campus by hosting a night of sharing stories, building connections, and celebrating students’ personal and professional journeys in a fun and interactive setting.

Partnering with Braving the Business, a community-based organization whose mission is to make the creative/entertainment industry feel less intimidating, Performing Arts Administration students and recent graduates learned how to cultivate professional connections and create their own career paths.

The event involved a structured speed-connecting activity over light snacks and beverages. Organized like the game ‘Musical Chairs’ -- combined with the idea behind ‘Speed Dating’ -- the event offered students a safe environment to ask questions of arts professionals while minimizing the anxiety that sometimes accompanies professional networking events.

The NYU Performing Arts Administration graduate program thanks Andrew Norlen (Founder of Braving the Business), his team of mentors, and the PAA alumni mentors for making this event so meaningful.
