The challenges facing organizations and communities are increasingly complex, requiring solutions that are not confined to one discipline, sector, or industry. Successful leaders look for inspiration in a variety of areas and across sectors to make needed changes.
In response to this, NYU Steinhardt launched a new online EdD in Leadership and Innovation with the first cohort starting in January 2019. The Department of Administration, Leadership, and Technology developed the rigorous program for cross-sectoral leaders from all areas of education, philanthropy, nonprofit, government, and the private sector working in education and learning. The practice-based EdD attracts professionals who seek innovative thinking, new solutions, and scalable change to address their organizations’ most pressing problems.
This program combines a 24-month online doctoral program with two immersive in-person residencies on campus at NYU Steinhardt at the start and end of each cohort. The two-year curriculum is composed of seminars, immersive experiences, research-intensive course work, synchronous class discussions with faculty, asynchronous instruction with fellow students, and independent work. The program also offers an ongoing Master Speaker Series featuring scholars from different departments and leading experts in a variety of fields.
