- What does justice look like for you in schools?
- What do you need to succeed in school?

These questions are inspired by the legacy of Norm Fruchter. Fruchter, a brilliant researcher, author, and radical thinker, mentored and influenced hundreds of educators and organizers over the many decades of his career. Mr. Fruchter was a lifelong change agent, wholly committed to empowering families to recognize their community-based visions of public schools.

In this issue of VUE, we will highlight a selection of his writings he shared through NYU Metro Center’s blog. Norm was an accomplished writer who regularly expressed his brilliance and commitment to anti-racism through his blog posts, many of which can be found on the NYU Metro Center website. He wrote extensively on the passion’s of his life, education, equity, and reform. Norm’s blog posts covered a host of topics, including access to higher education, non-traditional schooling, connecting to legacies of racial justice movements, community involvement in schools, school segregation, and school funding.
