Lawrence Ferrara

Bloomberg News' Tom Keene and Paul Sweeney interviewed NYU Steinhardt Professor of Music Lawrence Ferrara on June 28 during their nationally broadcast radio show, Bloomberg Surveillance. Keene commented that Dr. Ferrara is "...the definitive expert on music copyright in the nation." During the interview, Dr. Ferrara offered his perspective on the current state of an increasing bevy of music copyright cases, having been engaged on behalf of a who’s-who of major artists over the past quarter-century, such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Elton John, Mariah Carey, Tom Petty, Kanye West, Prince, Brad Paisley, Michael Jackson, Andrew Lloyd Weber, and many others, and iconic bands such as Led Zeppelin and U2. Important court decisions have cited Dr. Ferrara’s analyses and/or testimony that influence the approach and outcome of copyright cases within the music industry.
