Olivier Messiaen’s Oiseaux exotiques (Exotic Birds) is the centerpiece of this performance, featuring pianist Dr. Marilyn Nonken. The piece explores Messiaen’s fascination with birdsong and brings together natural and musical elements. Other pieces on the program include Morton Subotnick’s The Key to Songs and Charles Wuorinen’s New York Notes. Conducted by Jonathan Haas.
