The Drew Gress Ensemble, Brazilian Music Ensemble, and NYU Nonet each perform as part of the NYU Jazz Ensemble Winter Concert Series. The Drew Gress Ensemble focuses on integrating composition and improvisation, concentrating on ways to derive forms and concepts for elaboration from the written material itself. The Brazilian Music Ensemble performs a large repertoire of music covering the most important composers, styles, and regions of Brazil. The NYU Nonet focuses on music written for 5 horn and 4 rhythm section players. The bulk of the arrangements are written by Alan Ferber, a celebrated arranger in this context. This ensemble also serves to workshop and proof-read new student arrangements.

Admission is free. Registration is required.
