Panelists:
Kristie Patten, Gale and Ira Drukier Dean, Professor of Occupational Therapy, NYU
Clare Overmann, Chief Executive Officer of the Association of International Education Administrators
Allan Goodman, President Emeritus of the Institute of International Education
Raghu Sundaram, Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Global Officer, NYU
As NYU looks toward expanding global study opportunities to every undergraduate, this conversation asks a larger question: Why does global education matter now? At a moment of geopolitical fragmentation, conflict, and growing skepticism toward international engagement, the conversation will examine the changing role of international education and exchange, and what is at stake in sustaining and expanding opportunities for students to learn across borders. Leading voices from NYU and the broader field of international education will explore what meaningful global learning should offer students and why it should be central rather than peripheral to higher education. Drawing on the history of international education and NYU’s pioneering role in the field, panelists will consider what it will take for institutions to enhance and expand opportunities for global education in the years ahead. They will also examine how NYU can leverage its distinctive global network of campuses, sites, and partnerships to meet this moment.
