The CSD Distinguished Alumni award is presented to a graduate of any of our CSD programs who has demonstrated extraordinary service or achievement to the profession and/or to the department.
The recipient of the 2024 CSD Distinguished Alumni Award is Wendy Liang. We are pleased to honor Wendy for her contributions to NYU CSD as a researcher working with Dr. Tara McAllister, as well as for her contributions to the field as a medical speech-language pathologist and founder of Burgundy & White, a nonprofit that aims to promote survivorship and continued care for individuals impacted by head and neck cancer.
The recipient of the 2023 CSD Distinguished Alumni Award is Jennifer Percival. Jen is being honored for her contributions to our department through admissions events and orientation sessions and her collaboration with the Field Placement Team in the Bridges to Learning events. As a member of the first BEP cohort, she has also served as an informal mentor for many of our students who are interested in learning about health inequities in hospital based treatment in SLP, and as a frontline COVID-19 clinician, she represents the very best of the profession.
The recipient of the 2022 CSD Distinguished Alumni Award is Dr. Charles Lenell. Dr. Charles Lenell was selected to receive this award for his contributions to the department with respect to teaching, service, and student support, for founding the LGBTQ+ Club, and for his advocacy for non-discrimination in the field.
The inaugural recipient of the 2021 CSD Distinguished Alumni Award is Dr. Keisha Lindsay-Nurse. Dr. Keisha Lindsay-Nurse, undergraduate class of 2004, was selected for her many contributions to the department as an instructor and as a champion of social justice, and to the field as co-founder of the Caribbean Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CaribSHA).
