Research description/bio:
June is a part-time doctoral student in International Education, specializing in global talent mobility, immigration policy, and human capital flows. With over two decades of multifaceted professional experience across higher education administration, student advising, workforce development, and international student services, she brings a uniquely grounded perspective to academic scholarship.
Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, she served as an academic advisor at Hunter College and NYU to promote student success and career pathways. These extensive professional experiences in managing complex regulatory landscapes, ensuring institutional compliance, and facilitating student mobility have directly inspired her transition into rigorous academic research. Building on this practical background, her research focuses on global talent mobility, immigration policy, and the intersections of higher education. Using "brain drain" and "brain circulation" frameworks, she investigates how regional immigration and labor policies impact the retention, circular migration, and onward movement of international students and scholars. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Education Leadership and Policy from Teachers College, Columbia University.
