Undergraduate students who are not majoring in music programs at Steinhardt can enhance their degree program by adding a music minor. You’ll take eight core courses—two courses each in music theory, music history, aural comprehension, and keyboard skills—as well as other music academic courses and private lessons, and participate in ensembles from choral to concert band to jazz.
You can tailor your Music minor to suit your specific interests, talents, and goals by selecting several elective courses in areas such as sight reading, recording technology, the business of the music industry, and music for children.
We do not offer program-specific music minors—for instance, we do not offer a minor in music performance, composition, music business, music technology, or music education.
