Research Opportunities

PRIISM Opportunity Fellowship

The Center for Practice and Research at the Intersection of Information, Society, and Methodology's PRIISM Opportunity Fellowship supports the development of first-year MS students during the summer after the first year in their program.

Faculty and Coursework

Guided by our expert faculty, you'll move beyond the classroom into active empirical projects, collaborating with mentors to transform messy data into actionable insights.  Explore our curriculum to learn more about how research coursework will inform your practice as a statistician.

Internships

The internship course provides you with practical learning experiences in your chosen field of specialization. You'll work with real world data, with mentorship from a faculty member, in organizations such as city government agencies, not-for-profits, or policy think tanks.

Learning to Learn: The Research Advantage

Figuring things out independently has been the most rewarding part of all research experiences. Through the research projects I've done, I developed a wide range of technical skills. The coursework and opportunities to work with faculty to develop my own independent research projects in A3SR have given me a much clearer sense of specific research goals I hope to pursue in my PhD. Beyond building technical skills, my time in the program has taught me something even more valuable: learning how to learn new things and consistently solving problems in an efficient and rewarding way. The learning that came from hands-on research felt far more meaningful and motivating than what I could gain from coursework alone.
