Curriculum

MFA, Studio Art

The 60-credit, two-year Studio Art MFA program is an interdisciplinary, terminal fine arts degree that prepares you for a professional career as an artist in the contemporary art world. Focusing on individual attention and critique, the MFA in Studio Art supports you as you develop and refine a rigorous studio practice in your chosen medium.

Core Course Sequence

As the core of your MFA experience, you will participate in a team-taught interdisciplinary critique session every semester, along with individual studio meetings with visiting artists and faculty. Other electives offered in theory, art criticism, and writing will help you articulate the concepts, contexts, and influences of your artistic output.

Culminating Experience

In your final semester, you will take a thesis class and present works created from the culmination of intensive research and production for a professional exhibition at 80WSE Gallery.
