The aesthetic & personal potential of the computer for the artist is defined. Students work on building skills in areas such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, layout & design, & animation. Readings & discussion include the impact of digital technology on culture, as well as individual artists’ projects.

Assignments, critiques, & demonstrations related to the specific level on which the course is being given. The use of the computer to augment & expand conceptualization & expression has provided the artist with some of the most important new means for visual thinking since the Renaissance invention of perspective. Students learn how to use the computer as an extension of the visualization process & its specific applications in both two-dimensional & three-dimensional art.

EDCT-GE 2200 Digital Design for Museum-based Learning 3 Credits
Examine digital media for learning in museums (e.g., XR, games, mobile apps, and more). Activities include hands-on exhibit design projects (group and individual), student presentations, museum visits, and case studies. Apply learning theories and design frameworks to analyze an existing museum exhibit, or design your own. Home skills in user research, rapid prototyping, public piloting, iterative design, and securing resources. MPATE-UE 1818 Digital Electronics 3 Credits
An introduction to Digital Electronics, including binary systems & logic. Students must enroll in a Lab section to apply hands-on experience in simple computer programming techniques, digital processing applied to music with specific relevance to computer music synthesis & MIDI.

Hands-on lab accompanying Digital Electronics. Lab sessions will contain hands-on experience with logic circuits & microcontrollers. The course culminates with a student developed final project.

ART-UE 1346 Digital Fabrication: Exploring the Fab Lab 3 Credits
This course will introduce student to digital fabrication techniques within the
context of contemporary art. Students will complete a series of projects
exploring fabrication technologies such as 3D printing, 3D Scanning, CNC milling
and Laser cutting. In addition, student will question the machines' raw output
by fusing these processes with traditional sculptures techniques. Student will
produce a series of works following project prompts. Although the course will
process-heavy, student will maintain a rigorous conceptual grounding in their
completed works.

MCC-UE 1031 Digital Media: Context and Practice 4 Credits
This course introduces students to basic digital composition in the context of research and practice-based project development. Students explore practices in digital multimedia production, web design and development, digital imaging, sound and video editing applications, scripting in HTML and CSS, and the operation of production equipment. Students conduct fieldwork and site-specific ethnographic research on a significant issue in the local context and present their findings through the design of a web-based portfolio.

MCC-GE 2138 Digital Media: Data and the Self 4 Credits
There has been much public outcry over the data-tracking practices of governments and corporations and how these threaten civil liberties. Meanwhile, people have increasingly embraced wearable technologies and smartphone apps to monitor and analyze their own bodies and lives. How do individuals "datafy" themselves and how, in turn, does data intimately shape their experience, identity, and life chances? What does contemporary self-tracking (and its pre-digital antecedents) reveal about changing cultural values, political contexts, and understandings of the self?

ART-UE 1315 Digital Photography 3 Credits
Students may pursue work in black and white, color or digital photography. Technical demonstrations may include studio lighting, experimental processes, and large format cameras. Individual and group critiques focus on the development of ideas and meaning through photographic imagery, as well as aesthetic and formal concerns. Readings on individual photographers, history, and theory, as well as darkroom techniques are assigned.

ART-UE 300 Digital Photography I for Non Majors 4 Credits
A hands-on introduction to the technical and creative uses of digital photography. The class will explore the use of digital technologies to compose, shoot, scan, alter, and print images, as well as considering the ways in which photographic meaning has been changed by the use of the computer. Students provide their own camera and paper.

MPATE-UE 1003 Digital Recording Technology 3 Credits
Digital recording technology & production techniques are explained & demonstrated. Lecture topics engage analog to digital conversion, digital to analog conversion, digital signal theory & filter design, digital audio effects & mixing. Studio lab assignments are performed outside of class reinforcing weekly lecture topics.

MPATE-GE 2607 Digital Signal Theory 3 Credits
Theoretical and practical foundations for programming and digital signal processing at an advanced level. Topics covered include signal and system representation, time and frequency domains, phase vocoding, and filter theory and implementation. Lectures, covering concepts important to the implementation of DSP, are reinforced with assignments utilizing MATLAB to digitally manipulate sound files. A background in mathematics and computer programming is recommended, but not required.

EDCT-GE 2076 Digital Skills for Learning Designers 1–3 Credits
Digital technologies are now an integral part of the design of a growing number of learning experiences. Modern learning designers need to master several digital skills to effectively and efficiently embed these new technologies into their designs. Through modular and personalized learning paths, this course will provide practical training and practice to acquire basic skills in graphic design, multimedia production and interactive multimedia for novice students or to attain higher levels of mastery for students with previous experience.

In this hands-on communications course on food media, students learn how to use use social media, write for the web, analyze photography and video, and build and develop a website for an idea -- whether it be business, personal, or professional.

ARVA-GE 2109 Digital Technologies and the Art Organization: From Strategy to Practice 3 Credits
This course examines the intersection of art and technology from theory to practice. Readings about the art sector's use of social media, digital marketing, online art, e-commerce, blockchain and technology's role in cultural expression inform an analysis of digital technology's impact in the arts and the tensions sometimes generated.

This course covers the theoretical and clinical application of digital music in music therapy, focusing on imaginative listening, typologies and sociocultural history, and approaches to tele-health. Students create digital compositions related to the course material and clinical practice.

MPAET-GE 2982 Directing Youth Theatre Productions 3 Credits
This course provides an essential foundation upon which to build a drama-in-education practice. It introduces students to many drama-in-education strategies; critiques the educational rationale which supports them; and analyzes the process of structuring drama work as a medium for learning across the curriculum and beyond using the main dramatic conventions of the drama-in-education canon, they will experiment with ways in which to sequence these conventions and will become critically acquainted with the pedagogical principles which delineate the teaching terrain of the drama-in-education practitioner. Students will be required to read a prescribed text, keep a journal, and write a sequence of session plans.

OT-GE 2174 Disability in a Global Context 3 Credits
In this study away course students explore how education and traditional health beliefs and practices impact current health care, access and public transportation, and social welfare for individuals with disabilities in the destination country. Students explore and identify factors, which may influence a community’s view of disability. The course utilizes the reflective teaching model and experiential learning to enrich students’ understandings of the context.
