HPSE-GE 2020 Colloqium in Workplace Education
Analysis of the changing nature of workplace and workforce education.The colloquium examines such educational issues as workplace literacy, the corporate university, and government legislation and policies. Includes guest lectures by a wide variety of human resource professionals in classroom and site-specific settings. Selected current research related to these topics is also examined.

Prepares students in the final stages of graduate study for degree recitals and public performances, and provides the skills and documents necessary to advance to the next level of their careers. Students examine professional opportunities in academia and the non-profit sector and the relationships artists maintain with private and public presenters and supporters. Students explore the activities, responsibilities, and changing roles and responsibilities of performer-pedagogues relative to contemporary issues of identity, diversity, and access.

MPAME-GE 2939 Colloquy in Music Education (Thesis Requirement) 1 Credit
Master’s thesis preparation and presentation class taken for two semesters. First semester students research topics in music education, create an annotated bibliography, complete human subjects ethics training, and prepare a capstone project proposal. Second semester students complete a capstone research project based on reflective practice inquiry and creation methods. Focus on academic writing, research methods, use testing with learners, data analysis, oral presentation techniques. Guest presentations about published papers and theses.

The final masters project in Music Technology reflects some contribution to the field, and will bring together the student's class work experience and interests during the two year Masters program. A supervised & individualized study culminating in a professional portfolio of recorded works, analysis, & documentation that represent the skills & expertise of the Tonmeister Studies. A panel of experts in the fields of sound recording & music production will review the portfolio. Successful completion of the Advanced Certificate in Tonmeister Studies requires a positive evaluation of the portfolio & written documentation.

ART-UE 90 Color I 2 Credits
Introduces the use of color through analytical & observational exercises. A series of color theory exercises will be followed by painting exercises. The interrelatedness of color & meaning of color will be emphasized.

This course explores the ways people create, maintain, and augment the meaning of gender, developing insight into understanding gender ideology and the media representation of gender. The course examines how ideas about gender shape our communication practices, and how our practices of communication produce gender.
