Adolescent Development: Theory and Research

Examine theories and research on adolescent development with a particular focus on adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds. Topics include: identity development; family and peer relationships; sexuality; risk-taking behavior; and the impact of family and peer relationships, schools, and neighborhoods on psycho-social adjustment. Different methodological approaches to the study of adolescent development will be examined. Implications for prevention and intervention programs for adolescents will also be discussed.
