     Margaret A. O’Hara is a counselor educator teaching/developing courses for NYU, California Institute for Human Science, and Oregon State University. She graduated from OSU’s PhD counseling program. She is experienced in school and mental health counseling in New York (LMHC) and California (LPCC) where she has a private practice. As a Board-Certified Tele-mental Health Provider, she provides online counseling to clients in both states.

     Margaret is a Nationally Certified Counselor, Certified Experiential Therapist II, and holds state and international certification in alcohol and substance abuse counseling. Additional specialties include behavioral addictions, eating disorders, OCD, trauma, LGBTQIA, military, stress, separations and transitions. Margaret has worked in outpatient settings, residential treatment centers, schools, and a community college and psychiatric hospital. Roles include Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, School Counselor, Mental Health Counselor, Parent Educator, Hospice and Bereavement Training/Volunteer. She volunteers with the Red Cross and Give-an-Hour.

     Margaret is a Subject Matter Expert and Expert Consultant for the California licensing board. She was President of East End Counseling Association and named 2006 Counselor of the Year. She was Division President of Association of Specialists in Group Work for New York Counseling Association. She participated on the executive board of the California Association of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors. Margaret was elected President and served the three-year presidential sequence as well as Ethics Chair. She remains active on the Ethics Committee.
