About
Alexandra Funes-Salazar is a New York City-based Salvadoran film composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Her music is inspired by the intricate morphing characteristics of humanity and is recognized for its versatile blend of orchestral, experimental, and popular genres.
With credits as lead composer on more than 20 projects spanning narrative films, television pilots, and documentaries, Funes-Salazar has established a diverse portfolio across independent film and international media. Her recent work includes the scores for Magdalena, Te Amo (2024 Yugo BAFTA Awards longlist) and Bitter Weeds (Student Academy Awards shortlist). Her score for Quarter Life Crisis, co-composed with Sulwyn Lok, received Best Music Award at the 2024 British Web Awards.
Her music has been featured at international festivals, including South by Southwest, Austin Film Festival, SeriesFest, New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF), Palm Springs International Film Festival, San Sebastián International Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and PÖFF Shorts. Her work is also available on streaming platforms including Disney+ Japan, Canal+, Short of the Week, Tubi, Prime Video, and Apple TV.
Funes-Salazar was selected for the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) New York Mentor Program (Class of 2022-2023) and has collaborated as a demo composer with Spitfire Audio, Orchestral Tools, Sonixinema, Sonarworks, Audiomodern, and Triumph Audio.
