Amanda Blewitt

Program Officer

Amanda is a doctoral student in International Education program at NYU. Her research interests include women’s role in grassroots peacebuilding efforts as well as the usefulness of strategies such as sustained dialogue for improving relationships in conflict settings. Prior to doctoral study, Amanda worked for three years in Honduras with two local nonprofits: Un Mundo, a small community development organization, and Adelante Foundation, a women’s empowerment microfinance institution. She also served as a program leader for a global gap year program in South Africa, India, Cambodia, Ecuador, and Peru with Thinking Beyond Borders; worked for three years as an educator in Ecuador; and has studied or volunteered in Colombia, Haiti, Ghana, and Iceland. Amanda holds a Master of Education in International Education Policy & Management from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Franklin & Marshall College. This is her first year working with MIAS.
