Research Description/Bio:
Adam Benzekri, MS, MPH, is a PhD Candidate in PSI at NYU Steinhardt and a Research Scientist at Johns Hopkins University Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health (CLAFH). His research program focuses on reducing behavioral health inequities across adolescence and young adulthood through a systems-based, solutions-oriented approach. His work centers on racial, ethnic, gender, and sexually minoritized youth and their families whose identities are often marginalized or rendered invisible. His work examines how policies, institutions, and service delivery systems interact to produce unfair, avoidable, and unjust behavioral health outcomes, and advances evidence-based solutions to inform how systems are designed, delivered, and scaled. His research has been published in leading scientific journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Nature Mental Health, and JAMA Pediatrics. Adam holds an MS from Teachers College, Columbia University; an MPH from NYU; and BS degrees in Psychology and Molecular and Microbiology from the University of Central Florida.
