Where were you born/where did you grow up?

I was born and partially grew up in Long Island, New York. I was mostly raised in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Where did you attend undergrad/grad school?

I attended North Carolina State University for college and grad school. I earned a B.A. in Communication and an M.Ed. in College Counseling and Student Development.

What's your go-to snack?

I like French fries very much.

What's your favorite book?

I often reread All About Love by bell hooks, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin, and On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong.

What's your favorite movie?

I like to rewatch About Time, the Harry Potter series, any Studio Ghibli film, and the Star Wars original trilogy.

What's your favorite music?

My favorite genres are R&B (contemporary in particular) and Soul (neo-soul, really). I love Corrine Bailey Rae, Emily King, Olivia Dean, Joseph Solomon, and PJ Morton. I enjoy a lot of indie rock and pop artists, too.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love a mellow day indoors, but I sometimes leave to enjoy musical theatre, stand-up comedy, or get brunch with my friends.

Favorite spot in NYC?

Queens - the whole borough is underrated, IMO. It is the most ethnically diverse borough, with hidden gems everywhere.

One piece of advice you'd give to APUG students.

Remember to take a few beats to breathe, practice self-restoration, and reflect on your experiences. It's easy to become calcified during an intense period of self-discovery and development. The tussle and tumble of the college years can be exciting and inspiring, and, sometimes, it can be daunting or overwhelming too. You're learning a lot about yourself right now, so it's only natural that you may need to pivot on your path to graduation. Please reach out to your community at NYU for support as you endeavor toward the next best thing for yourself!
