What's your go-to snack? My go-to snack is yogurt with cashews and honey. But I love a good brownie.
What's your favorite book?
For fiction, I love Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I also enjoy reading memoirs, and my favorite one is Born a Crime by Trevor Noah.
What's your favorite movie?
This is not exactly a movie, but I love watching stand-up comedy. My favorite special is Dayo Wong’s “A Bitter Story of Eastern Hollywood 2” from 2010, in which he talks about the ups and downs of his career as a comedian and actor. His latest movie, The Last Dance, is also incredibly thought-provoking and moving.
What's your favorite music?
Depends on my mood! If I want to dance, then Shakira or Karol G. If I want to sing along, mainly because I’m not fluent in Spanish… yet, then Taylor Swift or GEM.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love to read, learn new languages (currently fluent in four), listen to music, go to live performances, and travel! I really enjoy exploring new spots in the city where I live, as well as traveling to new cities/towns/countries, both on my own and with friends and family.
Coolest thing you've done/seen in NYC?
I can’t decide between seeing Trevor Noah host The Daily Show live and going to “Life of a Neuron” at the Artehouse, so I'll do both!
Favorite spot in NYC?
Rockaway Beach
One piece of advice you'd give to APUG students.
Don’t aim for perfection because it often leads to inaction. Aim to try things you deeply want to do, and be proud of yourself for trying! It’s easier said than done, but try to embrace and learn from your failures.
As an ancient Chinese proverb says, “failure is the mother of success.” Each mistake, failure, setback will teach you invaluable lessons and lead you closer to your goal and success. And when things get hard, don’t forget to take breaks, surround yourself with people you love and trust, and recharge. You’ve got this!
