Ted Sperling has maintained an active and successful career in the theater and concert worlds for thirty-five years. He is the Artistic Director of MasterVoices and the music director of the most recent Broadway revival of My Fair Lady.

Mr. Sperling won the 2005 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for his orchestrations of The Light in the Piazza, for which he was also music director. Mr. Sperling’s work as a stage director includes the world premieres of five musicals: Red Eye of LoveThe Other Josh CohenSee What I Wanna SeeCharlotte: Life? Or Theater?, and Striking 12. He has conducted the scores for the films The Manchurian Candidate and Everything Is Illuminated, and directed the short film Love Mom, starring Tonya Pinkins, which has been shown in five international festivals.

Mr. Sperling has an active concert career, both as conductor and director. Highlights include Show Boat with the NY Philharmonic; The Pirates of Penzance, A Chorus Line, and Cabaret for the Public Theater; and The Firebrand of Florence, The Grapes of Wrath, Babes in Toyland, Bach’s St. John Passion, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice for MasterVoices. Artists Mr. Sperling had directed and conducted include Glenn Close, Audra McDonald, Anne Hathaway, Kevin Kline, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Martin Short, Eric Idle, Linda Lavin, Harvey Fierstein, Eddie Redmayne, Kelli O’Hara, Victoria Clark, Christopher Fitzgerald, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Bryn Terfel, Randy Newman, Nathan Gunn, and Stephanie Blythe.

Mr. Sperling’s television appearances include many Live from Lincoln Center broadcasts, as well as a Saturday Night Live Christmas show with Michael Bublé. He recently appeared as Steve Allen in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
