Dr. Stella Kim Hansen is a Clinical Assistant Professor in NYU’s Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness program. She received her BA in Psychology from Boston College and MS in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University. She completed her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Oregon State University.
Dr. Kim Hansen is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who worked in various clinical settings prior to becoming a counselor educator. She is interested in the development of the professional identity of counselors-in-training, and is an active graduate program partner of the New York Mental Health Counselors Association. Her past research with The Genomic Psychiatry Cohort looked at phenotypic data of OCD, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. Her current research utilizes Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis to understand the lived experiences of individuals who participate in Extracurricular Activities (ECAs) as adults.
Prior to joining NYU, she served as Program Director and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Master’s program for Mental Health Counseling at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. She has also served as the Director of Clinical Research Operations for the Center for Psychiatric Health and Genomics at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
