Norma Feriz-Gordon, MsEd is an experienced College and Career Success Coach on the College and Career Planning team within the Office of Student Pathways at NYC Public Schools. With over 20 years of leadership experience in non-profit, clinical, and educational settings, Norma plays a crucial role in shaping postsecondary planning and advising support across a network of over 500 NYC public high schools.

Since 2011, Norma has provided direct student services as a New York State Licensed Bilingual School Counselor. In this capacity, she has been instrumental in supporting students in accessing millions in financial aid, including grants and scholarships. Her work focuses on enhancing financial aid completion, expanding access to early college credits, and developing systems for effective postsecondary planning. Norma views supporting students and families through the financial aid process as a vital aspect of social justice, advocating for equitable access to educational opportunities for all.

In May 2024, Norma furthered her expertise by earning Certifications in Advanced Study in School Building Leadership and School District Leadership from the College of St. Rose. These advanced credentials underscore her commitment to educational excellence and leadership.

Norma’s expertise extends beyond her role in NYC Public Schools. She contributes to the educational community as a reviewer and writer for Bestcolleges.com, where she shares insights and advice on higher education and career development. This work reflects her dedication to providing valuable resources and guidance to students and educators alike.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Norma is a proud mother to a gregarious 10-year-old son, who keeps her life both lively and fulfilling. Her personal and professional experiences blend to inform her empathetic and strategic approach to education. She is pleased to have the opportunity to teach at her alma mater at New York University. Norma has historically also taught at St. John's University and Hunter College.
