Marilyn Nonken Inducted Into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame

Marilyn Nonken, Department Chair and Professor of Music and Music Education, has been inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame. Director of Piano Studies since coming to NYU in 2006, Dr. Nonken is a sought after guest teacher, and has recently given master classes and presentations at institutions including the Sorbonne, the New England Conservatory of Music, Columbia University, the Eastman School of Music, and Texas Tech. "Your passionate commitment to teaching and inspiring young people in their study of piano is commendable and rare," noted Steinway president Gavin English. "Through your efforts, you help students lay the foundation for a lifetime of musical and artistic expression." Inductees’ names are painted on the walls of the Steinway factory in New York.
