Dr. Gerald Voelbel, Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy, a core faculty member of the PhD program in Rehabilitation Sciences, and a founding member of the Center of Health and Rehabilitation Research, has received NYU's inaugural Excellence in Academic Advising Award. The award was established to honor outstanding academic advisors (an administrator and a faculty member) who embody the values that govern the university's Academic Advising Framework: connectivity, inclusivity, and a holistic approach to supporting students that empowers them to reach their full potential. Dr. Voelbel's research centers on the development of neuroplasticity-based cognitive remediation techniques to improve cognitive deficits in individuals with traumatic brain injuries.
