Official Degree Title
You’ll learn sound content knowledge in mathematics; current issues and trends in mathematics education; pedagogical approaches that promote students’ conceptual understanding and address anticipated learning difficulties; and teaching methods that provoke critical thought and foster inquiry-based learning.
Students with appropriate mathematical background may take graduate mathematics courses at NYU's world-renowned Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.
You will complete 100 hours of school-based fieldwork prior to student teaching, familiarizing yourself with urban educational environments and developing innovative classroom strategies appropriate for teaching today's students. You will complete a portion of this fieldwork during your junior or senior year.
