Academic-Continuity Technology Partner for Faculty and Departments

March 4, 2020 (All Department Administrators)

Hi Department Admins,

Steinhardt Technology is knee-deep in academic-continuity preparedness planning. This includes determining how we will best support instructors (adjuncts included) if we go "remote." I'll reiterate, this has not been declared, and no one should be offering remote courses at this time (with the obvious exception of our already online courses).

We know there will be a sincere need for training on the BIG THREE: Zoom, NYU Classes, and NYU Stream. To make this more efficient, we need your help to plan department-wide training sessions. If you could help us arrange the following, we can do the rest. We need your help with:

  • Finding a space in your department
  • Determining a date/time (whatever you think is best, but time is of the essence here - can be over multiple days and times)
  • Inviting the faculty/instructors
  • Indicating the high-priority tool(s) for your department of the three I listed

*PLEASE NOTE: ART & ART PROFESSIONS has already been arranged.

Finally, we will also be sending a form to all instructors requesting information for how they plan to adapt their courses for remote-instruction. This form asks questions like:

  • How would you hold individual or small group meetings with students?
  • What parts of your course require people to be physically together? What would you replace them with?
  • How do you intend for students to submit assignments?

If you are aware of any highly-unique physical classes (like Dance or Cooking) that are actively running this semester, feel free to drop us a note as a heads-up.

As always, feel free to contact me or steinhardt.technology@nyu.edu for any and all technical support throughout this ever-changing time.
