Dr. Jessie Roy is a writer, editor, and scholar who teaches courses on media studies, queer and trans history, and the practice of academic writing in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at NYU. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Syracuse University and a PhD in English with creative dissertation from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Jessie’s fiction has appeared in American Literary Review and The Journal, and she has received or been a finalist for the James Jones First Novel Fellowship, the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing Fellowship, the Philip Roth Residence in Creative Writing, and the University of Michigan’s Hopwood Award, among others. She has previously held teaching positions at Syracuse University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Writers.com as well as a lead role in the Steinhardt Writing Center at NYU.
