Art and Art Professions

Erin Johnson serves as the Director of the BFA Program in Studio Art and holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Art and Art Professions. She earned her MFA and a Certificate in New Media from the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, she attended the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture and the Jan van Eyck Academie. Presently, she is a Working Artist Fellow at Pioneer Works. 

Johnson's films and immersive video installations interlace documentary, experimental, and narrative filmmaking devices. Her work critically examines themes of collectivity, dissent, and queer identity and feature site-specific performances by artists, biologists, and film extras. 

Previously, Johnson was an Assistant Professor of Film and Video at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
