Carol Baingana

Social Development Intervention Support Specialist

Carol is a passionate speech-language pathologist (SLP) and social development consultant with ASD NEST support project. She previously served as an SLP at the School for Excellence High School in the Bronx, NY, which implements the ASD Horizon program. Carol took leadership in promoting neurodiversity-affirming practices across her team at the School for Excellence. She has also served Autistic toddlers and their families in early intervention and other settings. She co-founded a project entitled "Kwanza Autism," designed to break the stigma around Autism in African communities. The initiative offers Zoom workshops, live-streaming on social media, other content, and in-person gatherings to create a strong community of parents, Autistic people & professionals in various African countries. 

Carol received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Connecticut and earned a Master of Science degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from New York University.
