Since 2015, Clotilde Santana-Eccardi has served as a Resource Specialist for the Statewide Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (RBE-RN) at NYU. In this capacity, she manages the CR Part 154 ELL Parents Hotline to deliver key support to families of English Language Learners across New York State. She actively contributes as a member of both the New York State Spanish Spelling Bee Planning Committee and the Parent Engagement Statewide Task Force. Additionally, she partners with the Spanish Embassy, specifically the Instituto Cervantes, to promote Spanish language and cultural initiatives, while working to collaborate on Spanish Home Language Art programs that strengthen priorities around World Languages and the Seal of Biliteracy..
Prior to joining the RBE-RN, Ms. Santana-Eccardi dedicated 32 years of distinguished service to the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). Throughout her tenure, she held a wide range of roles—including paraprofessional, bilingual teacher, District Parent Liaison, parent engagement specialist, and Evening Continuing Adult Education Bilingual Coordinator. As a Multilingual and English Language Learner Instructional Specialist (ELLIS), she supported a region spanning three school districts, collaborating directly with principals and teachers to drive staff development and maintain instructional compliance across district-level initiatives. While employed full time with the NYCDOE, she additionally taught for six years at Touro College as an Adjunct Professor in the Humanities Department. Ms. Santana-Eccardi culminated her NYCDOE career by serving for seven years as a High School Assistant Principal of Administration and Organization before retiring in 2011.
Following her retirement, she continued her commitment to advancing education by serving as a consultant for the Center for Integrated Teacher Education. Ms. Santana-Eccardi holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College, as well as a Master of Science in Early Childhood and Bilingual Education and a Professional Diploma in Supervision and Administration from Long Island University. Ms. Santana-Eccardi has achieved All But Dissertation (ABD) status in Higher Education Leadership and plans to complete her Ed.D. in the near future.
