This workshop will be conducted remotely for Summer 2021.
Spend a week in our virtual classroom studying, collaborating, and performing with our esteemed woodwind faculty and students around the globe! This program will feature asynchronous and synchronous lectures, symposiums, and panel discussions to enhance students’ musical abilities and talents. Throughout the 5-day program, participants will participate in virtual masterclasses, private lessons, and ensemble projects. Masterclass topics to be explored include music technology, in-home recording and production, careers in the music industry, reed making, chamber music performance, and more!
Saxophonists participate in a specialized Saxophone Symposium that includes: saxophone literature, saxophone history, online masterclasses in altissimo, vibrato, overtones, and extended techniques, and an online exploration of Dr. Paul Cohen's collection of over 200 rare saxophones. Performing opportunities will include virtual saxophone orchestra projects: sopranino through contrabass saxophones, and the creation of a collaborative new work for saxophones that incorporates the inherent potential of playing together online in real-time.
Interested students must have access to the internet and a computer with video ability.
