Thiha Wint Aung’s (he/they) current research and writing explore algorithmic governance, GenAI circulation on social media platforms, and digital resistance. He holds an MA in Political Science from Central European University (CEU) in Vienna, a Master's in Public Policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, and an MBBS from the University of Medicine, Mandalay (UMM). As of 2025, he is pursuing his PhD in Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University, where his work examines how insurgent actors contest platform power and reconfigure visibility under conditions of algorithmic control.
Thiha also teaches and collaborates with transnational networks of Southeast Asian scholars, technologists, and activists to continue the education of university students in Myanmar, whose studies were disrupted by the military coup d'état.
