Mark Timmerman, a native of Davenport, Iowa, is an accomplished orchestral and chamber musician. He is member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and recently performed a season as Principal Bassoonist of the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He was Principal Bassoon of the Jacksonville Symphony in Florida for many years following graduation from The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. At Curtis, he studied with Sol Schoenbach and Bernard Garfield.

Mr. Timmerman is in high demand as an orchestral bassoonist, and has performed with most of the major symphony orchestras in the U.S., including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, National Symphony, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke's, St. Louis Symphony, Utah Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic and Hawaii Symphony.

Mr. Timmerman's performances abroad have taken him to Austria, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, Slovenia, Switzerland, and the former Soviet Union. He has extensive chamber music experience, having concertized at festivals such as Sarasota, Blossom, Pensacola, Salt Bay, and Spoleto. His participation for three summers in the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont included several Music from Marlboro U.S. tours and an appearance on the St. Paul Sunday Morning radio program.
