Elza Guzman serves as the Manager of Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital (NYP-BMH). She holds a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Midwestern University (1999), a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from St. Catherine University (2016), and a Master of Public Health from George Washington University (2019).
Prior to her current role, Ms. Guzman spent over 18 years as a Senior Occupational Therapist at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. There, she provided care to adults with physical disabilities across various settings, including outpatient services, inpatient acute care, and inpatient rehabilitation. She possesses extensive expertise in the intensive care unit (ICU) environment and played a key role in developing and implementing the early mobility program within the ICU.
Driven by a passion for public health and equitable access to care, Ms. Guzman continues to advocate for underserved communities. Her work focuses on expanding the reach of occupational therapy to address health-related social needs and improve access to essential health services.
