Duja’s passion for social justice defined her career to-date. She was born and raised in Palestine, and her early exposure to social and economic injustice led her to pursue a career in economics; a discipline where she saw she could make an impact. She holds a BA in Economics and Urban Studies from UC Berkeley, and an MSc in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford. Duja has worked as an adviser with multiple developing country governments on budgeting and planning, policy, and public financial management issues in East and West Africa as well as the MENA region. Duja also has a strong interest in quantitative research methods, and had focused her research prior to joining Global TIES on market integration and the labor market in Palestine.
