Denise Barilar

Doctoral Student

Teaching and Learning

Denise is a fourth-year doctoral student in the math education program. Her research interests include equity in the math classroom and teacher professional development. Denise also works as the Director of Math Curriculum and Instruction at DREAM, supporting math teaching and learning in their network of PK-12 schools in East Harlem and the South Bronx. Prior to her time at NYU and DREAM, Denise worked as an educator in school communities in Prince George's County, Maryland and Red Hook, Brooklyn. Denise holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame and a MAT from American University. She is also an alumna of the Teach for America program in Washington, D.C.
