Charulata is a doctoral student in NYU Steinhardt's Teaching and Learning Department with a focus on urban education. She has a background in both fine arts and education. Charulata has worked in higher education in various capacities in the last 20 years. She has taught photography, writing, and English to teens and adults. She is the founder and director of an arts-based community education program in NYC. She is also a faculty instructor at LIU teaching ESOL and on occasion, photography. Her areas of interest include educational nonprofits and the arts. Charulata holds an MFA in Creative Writing, MFA in Media Arts Theory and Photography, and a BA in Journalism.
