Carolina Rivas Herrera

Carolina Rivas-Herrera holds an M.A. in Economics and Education from Columbia University. She earned her B.S. in Economics from the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE) and completed a specialization in multidimensional poverty at the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative.

Prior to joining Global TIES for Children, Carolina was a member of the Social Sector Data Team at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), focusing on data analysis, program evaluation, and research related to poverty and social policy.

Earlier in her career, she explored topics including skin tone discrimination, maternity penalties in the labor market, social protection systems, and youth time-use patterns, and co-authored several peer-reviewed articles on these subjects. Carolina also contributed to Mexico’s human capital agenda through her work at the Ministry of Finance, where she led the development of the Skills Strategy for Mexico in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
