The latest interview in The NYU Jazz Cast Series produced by Dr. Dave Schroeder, Music Professor of Jazz Studies, features Michael Wolff. In this episode, Wolff discusses his recent memoir On That Note, and his career playing with jazz greats: Cal Trader, Cannonball Adderley, Airto and Flora Purim, Sonny Rollins, and more. He also shares stories of his time as musical director on the Arsenio Hall Show and his life long journey with Tourette's Syndrome. "I wouldn’t feel tics when I played. It’s about the energy and impulsiveness, being focused on the music, and the actual tactile feeling of my hands on the keys. I always felt like an outsider until I was a teenager and committed myself to jazz."
