Two IHDSC affiliates received distinguished honors at the 2026 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting in Los Angeles this April.
Dr. Sophia Rodriguez, Associate Professor of Educational Policy Studies and Sociology in Steinhardt’s Department of Administration, Leadership, and Technology (ALT) received the Luis Moll Creative Work/Book Award from the AERA Social Context of Education Division for her book Undocumented in the U.S. South: How Youth Navigate Racialization in Policy and School Contexts. This award recognizes outstanding books and creative works that reflect Dr. Moll’s vision to shine a light on the deep knowledge systems embedded in families, communities, and everyday life. IHDSC is proud to have been at the forefront of celebrating Dr. Rodriguez’s groundbreaking work, co-hosting her book launch in fall of 2025.
Dr. Joseph Cimpian, Professor of Economics and Education Policy in Steinhardt’s Department of Applied Statistics, Social Science, and Humanities, has been named a 2026 AERA Fellow. The Fellows Program honors scholars for their exceptional contributions to, and excellence in, education research.
Join us in extending our heartfelt congratulations on these extraordinary achievements, which exemplify IHDSC’s mission to advance research that fosters equity, human development, and social transformation.
